Along with controlled pricing and labor, these homes have a distinct advantage. Manufactured homes, also known as doublewides or singlewides, have given homeowners affordable housing for many years. These homes are built to the HUD code, and must meet demanding fire, construction, quality, durability, energy, transportation, electrical, plumbing and HVAC performance standards.
HUD homes are given strict testing, prior to leaving the manufacturer, and are inspected individually by third party inspectors in each plant. These homes have titles and can be considered personal property, if so desired; however, they can also be treated as real estate once the title of the home has been surrendered.
With so many plans, options, and price points, these homes offer many families the opportunity to own a home that may not have other options. Long term mortgages rates are available with these homes as well, which can allow many potential buyers the opportunity to afford and own their homes.
